Blueberry is the WBKR Pet of the week!

Meet Blueberry

Blueberry is a year old neutered male. Blueberry is a dachshund/chihuahua/terrier mix. Blueberry came to us from a local shelter. He was suffering from demodetic mange but since we’ve had him, his hair has grown back and his mange has cleared up. Blueberry is so very sweet. He can be a bit stand offish at first but once he feels secure, he is yours. He wants to be in your lap or touching you at all times. And he loves to play with toys or other dogs. It is suspected he would chase cats although we’ve never given him that opportunity. Blueberry needs some extra housebreaking training. And he needs someone who will be patient enough to work with him on these behaviors. He loves treats and he loves to please people. Blueberry is a large personality in a small dog body. Blueberry is microchipped, heartworm negative and up to date on vaccines. IF you are interested in any Sparky pet, please go to www.sparkyrescue.com/adopting and fill out an application.

Quinn is the WBKR Pet of the week!

Meet Quinn

Quinn is an older terrier mix looking for a special person to take care of his special needs. We think he’s about eight years old, maybe a little older. When he came to us he had a tumor on his posterior that we thought was his biggest issue. The tumor has been removed, but we learned he has other needs as well. Bloodwork revealed he has elevated liver enzymes and he takes a daily supplement to help regulate them. He was diagnosed with pancreatitis and needs to eat special, low-fat dog (which he thinks is extremely tasty) and he is not allowed normal dog treats. He does however love raw carrots and apples as special treat! Quinn’s other issue is his hearing. He is at least partially if not totally deaf. It doesn’t affect him much because he still loves to play with squeaky toys and chase a ball. He LOVES to go on walks and he’s great on a leash. Because he is an older gentleman, he occasionally has bladder issues, particularly when he’s sleeping- and being deaf he sleeps very soundly. In his foster home he wears a belly band at night and it has made a big difference. Quinn hasn’t had it easy and deserves a forever home that will love him and take care of his needs. Due to his deafness, he probably needs a home without small children who might startle him. If you are interested in Quinn, please go to www.sparkyrescue.com/adopting and fill out an application.

Sullivan is the WBKR Pet of the week!

Meet Sullivan

Sullivan is a two year old Shetland Sheepdog mix. Sullivan was found by a nearby shelter with an injured leg and as a result, it had to be amputated. Sullivan is very sweet but once he is comfortable, he tends to get protective of his person. Sullivan would do best in a home with someone who has border collie/herding dog experience. Sullivan’s foster reports he craves affection and he’s almost pushy about getting it. Sullivan is neutered and has been treated for heartworms. He is microchipped and up to date on his vaccinations. If you are interested in Sullivan, please go to www.sparkyrescue.com/adopting and fill out an application.

Gizmo is the WBKR Pet of the week!

Meet Gizmo

Gizmo is a senior (10+ years) chihuahua mix. He came to us from a shelter after being pulled from a hoarding/puppy mill situation. Gizmo was heartworm positive and has an old injury to his leg. Gizmo also had dental disease. Gizmo was treated for his heartworms and has had his teeth taken care of. Gizmo manages with his leg ok although he walks a little wonky. The only way to repair his leg at this time is to amputate. We, along with our vets, decided to not take his leg at this time since it is causing no issue. He may have arthritis in his leg as a result of the injury. Gizmo gets along with other dogs and is the happiest fellow. He is also microchipped. Blake is the WBKR Pet of the week!

Meet Blake

Blake is a two-year-old Australian Cattle dog. He is neutered and like most ACD's, can be a little crazy at times. He needs an active family who will ensure he gets enough exercise. He does ok with other dogs but can try to bully them if he's allowed to. Like many herding dogs, Blake can get nippy ( due to his breed) and his new family will need to be aware of this. Blake is heartworm negative, up to date on his vaccinations and microchipped. If you are interested in Blake, please go to www.sparkyrescue.com/adopting and fill out an application.
